Principles of Effective Materials Development

Principles of Effective Materials Development

By Prof. Luis Vásquez Batista

Author Brian Tomlinson expresses that the principles of effective materials development provide many opportunities for the learners to produce language in order to achieve intended outcomes. It is true because it is going to creative new ways of  producing information and language that students will use.

Teachers shoul design output activities so that they help learners to develop their ability to communicate fluently, accurately, appropiately, and effectively. They should also make sure that the output activities are fully contextualized in that the learners are responding to an authentic stimulus, that they have specific addressees, and that they have a clear intended outcome in mind.

In order to accomplish what the author wanted you need to identified the materials that are needed and also explore and contextualize which materiales are needed more that others. Of course, you will have to evaluate the materials that will help you according to the objectives you want to work with.

  2. Well, I think, the author says has much to say because really the teaching of oral communication is a defining challenge for teachers in the area of language teaching. More when it is difficult and needs to practice, since in most cases the student does not know how outside the English class, or is because it gives you this ability long enough to practice too, or maybe, the activities are not appropriate for this purpose, I think there are many other reasons… That is why getting the student to communicate is of great responsibility for the teacher who must have a set of skills to facilitate students to develop this skill, like speaking.
